Science in meter and verse

Edited by Dava Sobel
When two rivers satisfy,

they sometimes hesitate to mix.

The murky sediment load carried by a person

keeps its distance from

the very clear blue-eco-friendly of the other.

Each individual reflects the shade

of the landscape it has carved,

from time to time with caution,

and at times with turbulence.
Steep canyon partitions bear witness

and scars of the regular descent

of h2o molecules pulled by gravity,

eroding crystals and grains, thirsty clay particles

that tumble and drift in the move.

The rivers emerge and meander

away from the rugged mountains

and towards each and every other,

starting to unburden their masses.
The distinct paths grow to be one particular,

and the denser stream ducks underneath,

hiding its sedimentary previous

alongside the line of mixing,

where eddies take a look at the waters.

Clouds and clarity

complement each individual other,

and, with time,

dispersion and blending

shift the latest into balance.
